Week 3 Sept. 25- Oct. 1

Goals:
1. Know the vocabulary: atoms, elements, molecules and compounds
2. Know that gases are made of tiny particles, moving at fast speeds and separated by relatively large distances.
3. Know that chemical reactions are the rearranging of atoms.
4. Know the meaning of subscripts and coefficients.

Weekly Schedule

Tuesday: Review and catch up from last week
Thurday: Lab on Electrolysis lab handout, start writing conclusion
2 homework assignments: Reading with Questions (sorry this isn't available electronically),
Finish Conclusions*
Friday: Go over homework and start poster assignment in groups flashcards for review - you finish them
Monday: Finish and present posters, quiz

Notebook contents:
1. Data table from electrolysis experiment
2. Conclusion from electrolysis experiment
3. Reading on Structure of Water
4 Worksheet about reading

*In the right column of the page is a guide for writing conclusions. The focus for this conclusion is to write about their success testing the claim that the 2 in H2O means that there are two hydrogens for each oxygen.

First enter my name in the teacher line. (Entering Grant H.S. won't work; I subscribed to the service when I was at Franklin.)
Then choose the class that your child is in.
You will then need to enter two passwords. The first is his or her student id number from the student id. The second is his or her birthday in the form mmddyyyy. Some students do have the same birthday and I have had to leave off the first two numbers in the year several times.

Feel free to email me if you need me to tell you the numbers that I used.
